New Official DCA Media (DVD/CD’s) Company for 2010

DCA Media Director, Mike Symonds, is pleased to announce that Drum Corps Associates has chosen Box 5 Productions of Louisville, KY to produce all audio and video products for the 2010 season.  Box 5 Productions is a fast rising production company started in 1998 by people with drum corps backgrounds specifically to record the pageantry arts.

Box 5’s Tim Snyder advised, “I am very excited about our new partnership with Drum Corps Associates.  This partnership will allow Box 5 to bring our style of production to the great people and fans in the DCA arena. We here at Box 5 are committed to providing these great performances an unbelievable final product to provide cherished memories for years to come.”

Symonds advised that technically, Box 5 provides the latest in technology and will be able to provide DCA with the highest possible quality products. The method of shooting and editing that will be used will give every viewer a 50 yard line seat, and bring the impacts of the performances front and center. Box 5 was the first in the pageantry arts arena to offer dolby 5.1 surround sound on every product.  For video, they will use 6 to 10 high definition cameras.  All camera angles will be recorded in HD so that the final digital duplication master will be of the highest quality available.  All cameras will be individually recorded and available for editing after the event under the supervision of Symonds and Snyder.  This will ensure that the best possible shots are provided throughout the product.  All video products will be available in 16 x 9 wide screen format for best viewing on modern HD systems.

The audio will be recorded at the highest resolution possible providing the most pristine master available anywhere. Several arrays of microphones and microphone trees will be placed throughout the stadium and will be individually recorded and available for post production multi-track editing and mastering for the final product, both for audio and video duplication. This audio will ensure that whether you’re watching the DVD’s or listening to CD’s, you will feel as though you are right in the middle of the action.  All production personnel used in the capturing of the 2010 championships have a drum corps or band background and specialize in the production of the pageantry arts.  Box 5 also features an interactive web site where customers will be able to track progress on all orders.  Check them out at http://www.box5productions.com.

Symonds, a well-known television producer/director himself, advised that he is looking forward to a close working relationship with Box 5 Productions and that the excitement, quality and pure entertainment of the DCA experience will be well preserved for the future enjoyment of all.  Symonds and Snyder have already begun pre-production meetings and are moving ahead with producing a product that will be state of the art.  Snyder performed with the 1992 Star of Indiana, and Symonds is the former Drum Major of the Brigadiers, and the Steel City Ambassadors.

DCA President, Gil Silva, advised that everyone at DCA would like to thank Gary Baker and BVP Productions for their many years of service to DCA.  BVP provided excellent products and quality service to DCA, our corps and our fans.  Gary Baker has been a close friend to DCA who will be sorely missed.  2009 was one of the best overall Championships in history.  Be sure to support your DCA corps and relive the excitement of Labor Day Weekend 2009 – DVD’s & CD’s of all events from The Mini Corps Championship to The Championship Finals, Prelims to the Alumni Show - available from BVP Productions at http://www.bandvideos.com.
