Chuck Saia marched in his hometown Johnstown (PA) 'Blue Devils' before moving to Harrisburg PA in 1961 where he joined the 'Westshoremen Bonnie Scots'. Chuck performed for a number of years in the percussion section before becoming a board member and eventually business manager. During his time as business manager of the Westshoremen, he was the driving force in forming the 'Red Carpet Association', an organization of competitive senior corps in the Pennsylvania area.
During the 1970's Chuck was asked to be part of Drum Corps Associates. He served in many capacities in DCA for the next 35 years including being chief judge during the infamous hurricane at the 2006 World Championship Prelims in Rochester New York.
In 1983, along with friends Bill and Rose Light, Larry Hershman and Craig Kern, Chuck founded 'Five Star Brass Productions Inc.' 'Five Star Brass' became the premier production company for such notable events as 'Serenade in Brass', 'The Hershey Spectacular', 'Review of the Corps' as well many jazz concerts featuring Doc Sevrinisen, Maynard Ferguson, Dave Stahl and Buddy Rich.
In addition to his drum and bugle corps career, Chuck was very active with performing youth organizations being named to the 'Hall Of Fame' in both 'Cavalcade of Bands' and the 'Keystone Indoor Drill Association'.
